"I wish I could understand": 30 September 2022 email to my lawyer disclosing my wife's early suspicion that our American Christian missionary friends might be U.S. intelligence
On 30 September 2022, I sent my lawyer Mr. Lehman a long, personal email in which I disclosed, relatively early in our working relationship, that when my wife first met our American Christian missionary friends she had told me she wondered whether they could be U.S. intelligence. The email also walked Mr. Lehman through several connected events: the August 2019 dinner conversation; the November 2019 firing of Steve Easterbrook; the January 2020 email I had sent to a member of the French parliament about doctoring of legal documents in the McDonald's case; the police summons that arrived by email approximately thirty minutes later; my reading of that timing under ECtHR Article 34 jurisprudence; and my brother's questioning by French police in November 2019, which I only learned about in September 2021.

On the evening of 23 August 2019, my wife and I hosted Subjects #2 and #3 for dinner at our home in Taiyuan, inside the Shanxi Provincial CPPCC Committee Organ Apartment (山西省政协机关公寓). The evening included the first detailed discussion of the McDonald's promotional fraud case with them, as well as a remark by Subject #2 referring to potential extradition whose factual presupposition only became legible in retrospect.
